Terms of Service

1. What Samir is

Samir is an AI-assisted biography service. After purchase, Samir interviews your chosen family member (the "Storyteller") through WhatsApp voice messages in their Arabic dialect across approximately ten conversational sessions, then writes their memoir in Arabic together with a translation into your chosen language. Every order includes the digital memoir and the family voice archive. Printed editions and the audiobook are optional add-ons.

2. Who can buy, and consent to record

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase. Because the heart of the service is recording a person's voice and stories, you agree that you will only enroll a Storyteller who has been told what Samir is and has agreed to take part. We reinforce this ourselves: in Samir's first conversation the Storyteller is told they are being recorded for their family's book, and if at any point a Storyteller does not wish to continue, we stop. Where you live or where the Storyteller lives may have specific laws about recording conversations; you are responsible for making sure the people you enroll actually want to participate.

3. Purchases, pricing and payment

Payment is processed by Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout in USD, EUR or BRL and may include launch or promotional pricing. The purchase is a one-time payment — there is no subscription. Add-ons (such as the printed Book or the Audiobook) can be bought at checkout or later during your project. Promotional codes apply only at the moment of purchase.

4. How the work gets made

Samir uses artificial intelligence to conduct interviews, transcribe recordings and draft chapters, with human editorial review. We follow a strict zero-invention rule: chapters are built only from what the Storyteller actually said. A memoir is a work of memory, not a fact-checked history — we preserve the Storyteller's account as they told it.

5. Your review, your approval

Before anything is printed, your family receives every chapter for review on a private page. You can request corrections, and nothing goes to print until you approve it. Printed editions are produced after approval and typically ship within 2–5 weeks depending on the edition.

6. Who owns the stories

Your family does. The Storyteller's recordings, the transcripts and the finished memoir belong to your family. You grant us only the limited license needed to process the recordings, write and translate the memoir, produce the deliverables and operate the service. We will never publish your family's stories, use them in marketing, or use them to train AI models. If you'd like to be featured as a testimonial, that only ever happens because you asked us in writing.

7. Timelines

A typical project completes in 3–5 weeks, but the honest truth is that the pace belongs to the Storyteller — some elders love to talk every day, some need gentle patience. Timelines we give are estimates, not promises, except this one: we finish, or we refund (see our Refund Policy).

8. Acceptable use

You may not use Samir to record anyone without their knowledge, to harass anyone, or to produce unlawful content. We may decline or discontinue a project that we believe is abusive to the Storyteller or our team — with a full refund if we're the ones who stop it.

9. Third-party services

The service relies on WhatsApp (Meta) for messaging, Stripe for payments, and professional print partners for physical editions. Their availability is outside our control, and their own terms apply to your use of them.

10. Warranties and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the order concerned. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before any formal dispute, write to us at hello@meetsamir.com — nearly everything can be fixed with a conversation, which is, after all, our business.

12. Changes

We may update these terms as the service evolves. The date at the top reflects the latest version; material changes will be posted on this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
